CSU SoftChalk Contract

SoftChalk

The CSU Office of the Chancellor has negotiated a contract with SoftChalk to provide significantly discounted costs for individual user licenses and for site licenses for CSU campuses.

  • Individual User Licenses:
    • $306 for a perpetual license, one-time fee
      (vs. $655 retail price)
    • This price includes GOLD Support for one year: technical support and updates to SoftChalk 7 as well as version upgrades (new releases) that become available during your support coverage period.

SoftChalk will be happy to demo their tool for evaluation purposes and will provide training at a negotiated rate.

Procedure for Purchasing the Discounted Individual User Licenses:

Getting Set Up:

  1. Your campus must designate a single “SoftChalk Procurement Coordinator” who will:
    • Request individual licenses from the Chancellor’s office SoftChalk contract coordinator at the CSU Center for Distributed Learning (CDL).
    • Be the financial contact for the CDL. This person will be notified when the CDL initiates the CPO for reimbursement of the cost of the licenses.
    • Provide the distribution and support of the SoftChalk licenses to campus members. The CO will not be providing any user support for SoftChalk.
  2. To designate your campus SoftChalk Procurement Coordinator, send the campus name, SoftChalk Procurement Coordinator’s name, campus title, phone #, and email address to Softchalk-contract@cdl.edu.
  3. The CDL has a set of license keys that it will distribute upon request from a designated and approved campus coordinator.

Purchasing the License Keys:

  1. Send an email to Softchalk-contract@cdl.edu   to request the SoftChalk license keys and provide the following purchase information:
    • # of  individual licenses requested
    • Total amount of funds the CO will request from your campus through a CPO.
    • The name and number of the Department providing the funds.
  2. Upon receipt of the funds transfer, CDL will send you a spread sheet with the requested number of individual user license keys for your distribution and control.  You complete the spreadsheet populating the Faculty Key Information for individual users.
  3. You will send the CDL the fully populated spreadsheet for their records, and reply that you have received the correct # of keys requested.
  4. The process is complete.

Downloading Softchalk and Enabling with License Keys

You may download the SoftChalk 7 software installer by pointing your web browser to:

Entering Your License Key

Once you have installed SoftChalk 7, enter your license information:

  1. In SoftChalk 7, go to the Help menu, choose Enter License. (If you are a Macintosh user, go to the top of your screen and choose File/Enter License.)
  2. Copy and paste your license key information below into the License Name and License Key fields. You can right-click in the text fields and choose Paste (or use Ctrl+V).
